About Our Consultants:

Mike Henry

Few people have impacted the content landscape as much as Mike has in the past quarter century. He has helped create over 12 new radio formats in the last 25 years, including mainstay formats such as Alternative, Triple A, Modern AC, Smooth Jazz, All News, Hip Hop, NPR News, Progressive Talk, and the revolutionary new Adult Hits format that dramatically changed the dynamics of radio strategy and programming. Mike relishes the creation of new formats, some of which have just begun and are still proving themselves, such as World Music and Urban-Rock Progressive. Mike has helped re-shape the brand and content of multiple TV channels such as Country Music Television (CMT). In addition Mike has been behind the scenes in the creation of many stand-alone shows and programs, which air on radio, TV, internet streams, HD channels and all media platforms. Mike is also a partner in Media Mechanics, a multiplatform production company.

Paul Marszalek

With more than 25 years in radio and television, Paul Marszalek has held senior programming and management positions with VH1/MTV Networks, KFOG/San Francisco, and WXRT/Chicago. Most recently, Paul co-founded Media Mechanics, a media consultancy and multi-platform production company that creates non-traditional solutions to the emerging challenges of public and commercial radio, television, and new media. Areas of emphasis include the creation of multi-platform and branded content, program development, strategic planning, research, start-ups and turnarounds, branding, management and staff training, and non-traditional sales applications.

John Stevens

Over the last three decades, John Stevens has been hands-on as an air personality, program director, consultant, corporate officer, and owner. John started his career as an air talent at Top 40 WLCY in Tampa/St. Petersburg and eventually became Assistant PD. Later, he became the program director of WYNF-FM across town and led the station to its highest ratings at the time. After Tampa, John programmed KRQQ-FM and KMGX-AM in Tucson and then signed KZZP-FM on the air in Phoenix and served as the station’s first program director. John then joined Surrey Broadcasting as National Director of Programming and eventually became Vice-President. During that time, he programmed KAIR and KJYK in Tucson and consulted sister stations KATT in Oklahoma City and KYKY-FM in St. Louis. He also headed the consulting division for Surrey Consulting and Research and worked with dozens of stations across the county in programming and research. It was during this period that John got deeply involved in research and helped create Surrey’s first music testing program that was used across the country by companies such as NBC, RKO, and Charter Communications. John left Surrey to become program director of First Media’s KFMK-FM in Houston. After 21/2 years, he joined Caribou Communications as Vice President/Operations and was responsible for programming and research on company’s owned and operated stations. It was during this successful period at Caribou that John became part of the ownership group. John and his group sold Caribou in 1999 and he soon joined Paragon shortly after.
