About Our Consultants:

Dan Halyburton

A 39-year radio veteran, Dan was the Senior Vice President and Market Manager of Emmis Communications New York, overseeing operations for Emmis' three New York stations, Hot 97(WQHT-FM), 98.7 KISS FM (WRKS-FM) and CD 101.9 (WQCD-FM.) He joined Emmis in June 2006. Halyburton spent 25 years with Susquehanna Radio Corporation, where he was the Senior Vice President and General Manager for Group Operations. Dan oversaw many facets of the groups operation including the groundbreaking interactive and streaming programs. He joined Susquehanna Radio Dallas, Texas in 1981 as Operations Manager and was later promoted to Station Manager for KPLX/KLIF. Susquehanna Radio added more stations in Dallas, KTCK The Ticket and KDBN The Bone. Halyburton was named Senior Vice President and Market Manager for the Dallas Cluster. Halyburton continues his commitment to the radio community through membership in industry organizations and participation as a moderator and member on numerous industry panels.

Paul Marszalek

With more than 25 years in radio and television, Paul Marszalek has held senior programming and management positions with VH1/MTV Networks, KFOG/San Francisco, and WXRT/Chicago.Most recently, Paul co-founded Media Mechanics, a media consultancy and multi-platform production company that creates non-traditional solutions to the emerging challenges of public and commercial radio, television, and new media. Areas of emphasis include the creation of multi-platform and branded content, program development, strategic planning, research, start-ups and turnarounds, branding, management and staff training, and non-traditional sales applications.

John Stevens

Over the last three decades, John Stevens has been hands-on as an air personality, program director, consultant, corporate officer, and owner. During his tenure as Vice-President/Operations for Caribou Communications, John was often called on by financial lenders to provide a third-party audit and overview of station operations. This led to management and program consulting agreements with the workout departments of several large financial institutions. John’s rare combination of programming experience, finance background, and market research savvy give him the unique ability to serve in both programming and management consultant capacities. In addition, John’s leadership skills extend beyond broadcasting. John served eight years as a city councilman in Colorado’s fourth largest city, Lakewood. During his two terms in office, John served as Mayor Pro-Tem and chaired various finance and redevelopment committees while representing the City on numerous national and state levels including the National League of Cities and the Colorado Municipal League. He also served for eight years on the City Budget and Audit committee and was active in creating and managing the City’s 100 million dollar annual operating budget.
