About The Blog

01:24:28 pm | Miscellaneous | Mike Henry

Paragon’s blog focuses on the most important issues facing new and old media today.  Through our research and consulting for media and content companies for over two decades, we enjoy a truly unique view of the media landscape.  Our view is highly proprietary and definitely ahead of the curve.  For the first time ever, our blog pulls back the curtain and allows readers to benefit directly from Paragon’s insider perspective of media’s exciting evolution.

Paragon’s blog is our window to this fast-changing world, and it is intended to improve your view of your world.  Our blogs will bring you important developments and changes across a broad media landscape.  In particular, we will use our blogs to mine our greatest areas of expertise:

“Reinventing Radio”

Paragon’s CEO Mike Henry has a long history of creating new formats and pushing radio to new dimensions.  Therefore, it’s natural that Mike will author Paragon’s “Reinventing Radio” blog.  This blog will shine a light on new and challenging ideas coming out of traditional radio and its new distribution points.  By promoting a “Reinventing Radio” theme, Mike will champion new concepts and the latest success stories that come from radio’s boldest thinkers.

“PPM Rulebook”

Perhaps no other development will change radio ratings for the short-term more than the role-out of the Personal People Meter (PPM) across U.S. and Canadian radio markets.  Paragon’s job is to drive client ratings and market share; therefore, it is essential for all of us to quickly maneuver this new ratings landscape.  Led by Paragon’s long-time Arbitron guru Larry Johnson and John Stevens, Paragon’s Research division President/COO, all Paragon researchers and consultants will contribute to this blog by introducing and growing an industry-wide resource called the “PPM Rulebook” through his blog, which also solicits new rules from any and all readers.

“HD Radio”

No one knows more about the inside world of HD Radio than Paragon’s Bob Harper.  Bob conducted the first-ever research for the HD Radio Consortium in 2005, which gave Bob the original view of the challenges facing radio’s HD Radio rollout.  Since then, Bob and Paragon have continued a focus on HD Radio research and consulting, which will spill out in Bob’s “HD Radio” blog.  Whether you think HD Radio is the next big thing or the next “AM Stereo,” Bob’s blog is a can’t-miss encyclopedia of all things HD Radio.

“Youth Radio”

Larry Johnson at Paragon has been at the forefront of researching North America’s youth for several decades.  Larry’s passion for young-targeted formats set the stage for Paragon’s “Youth Radio” blog, which provides a greater understanding on the challenges facing radio among teenagers and young adults.  Most importantly, Larry’s “Youth Radio” will focus on how radio can renew its waning love affair with youth as they also entertain many other entertainment choices.

 “Media Research”

Accessing information today is an over-whelming process, even for the most savvy media info seekers.  Reviewing, evaluating and commenting on this tsunami of data is a huge challenge, but one that Paragon tackles every day.  Paragon’s “Media Research” blog points our readers to the most critical new research coming out every day and every week.  Most importantly, the “Media Research” blog written by Paragon’s Sara Schueller will provide readers with the implications and required strategy suggested by the latest media research that is hot off the presses.

Paragon’s blogs will focus on these critical issues, as well as all related notions that bubble up along the way.  We will add new proprietary national research to the discussion by including Paragon’s national research findings inside our blogs, and we will also add any other research to the conversation that we find interesting.  A “Comments” page is provided so the reading audience can comment and participate in these critical media conversations and help evolve them to higher ground.

Frontline media researchers and consultants + our behind-the-scenes media view + new national research = Paragon’s blog.  We hope you enjoy reading our blog, and encourage you to participate.
